My Shop, ah-hem Studio Upgrade

In the summer of 2025, I hired my first intern. I wasn’t planning on it, but I’m so glad it happened. You see, I was already in talks with the local community center to get an intern for Summer 2026. I already missed the deadline for 2025. So it was kind of on my mind. It also merged with the thought - my designer’s son would be coming home from college and needed a job. Suddenly, I was hiring him. I had some big builds I aspired to make and a 2nd set of hands would help me out a lot.

After building the bathroom vanity and the lower cabinets for the pantry, I knew I would need a bigger workbench. My intern was a great help. I had this idea to make a bigger bench, but wanted to also save space. The concept was in my head and I had little to no measurements to guide us. In the end, I hated it. Well, we never totally finished it and much of the material was salvageable for the 2nd workbench. This one, I bought plans and gave him the printout. I was like, “You read the plans and tell me what to cut.” It worked out beautifully.

Then, he was taking a 4 day weekend for a mini roadtrip, as college kids do. I somehow got the brilliant idea that this would be a good time to paint the shop. My mom was here visiting, so we went for it!

This snowballed into something HUGE!
